Graton – Carolyn R. Ayres, 81, of Grafton, formerly of Westborough, died Thursday, September 1, 2022 at UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital. She was the wife of Donald H. Ayres.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Christine (MacLeod) Anderson. She grew up in Waltham and Southborough and was a member of the last graduating class of Peters High School in 1959.
In her early years, she worked at Iandoli supermarket and then as a customer service representative at Astra Zeneca Pharmaceutical.
She was a member and past president of the Westborough Garden Club, was an avid gardener, made wedding cakes, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Scott M. Ayres and his wife, Ann, of Worcester and Steven D. Ayres and his partner, Stacy Stauffer, of Oxford; two brothers, Carl Anderson of Southborough and David Anderson of Natick; four grandchildren, Christine Ayres, Mariah Ayres, Heather Roach and Marc Russell and two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Ayres and Caleb Arseneault.
A funeral service at the cemetery will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, South Street, Westborough.
Calling hours are Tuesday, September 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough.
