YOUNGSVILLE, N. Car. – Charles L. “Charlie” Ketring, Sr., 89, of Youngsville, died on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 29, 1931 in New Madison, Ohio. His wife, Martha Allene Ketring and his parents, Harley Roscoe and Anna Bowman Ketring are predeceased.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 7, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the memorial gardens of the pine forest. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The funeral service will be broadcast live.
Mr. Ketring served his country in the US Air Force as an aviator during the Korean War, stationed in Central and South America, where he was an aerial photographer, taking critical surveillance photographs of the Panama Canal and the surrounding areas. He later worked as a systems analyst for IBM.
He is survived by one daughter, Lori Ketring Gongaware of Richmond, Va., And two sons, Thomas Ketring and his wife Rosemary of Youngsville, and Chuck Ketring and his wife Debbie of Ballwin, Mo .; grandchildren, Anna Ketring, Sean Ketring, Anthony Montone, Jacob Ketring, Lindsey Hoffman, Matthew Ketring and Madison Sandlin; and great-grandchildren, Eric and Connor Hoffman, Josie Wilson and Margo Sandlin.
The family would like to thank Transitions Hospice and the care provided by Lisa, RN, Steven, RN, Kristie, RN and Erika, SW, as well as the nurses at 6C at Wake Med for the exceptional care provided by Dakota S., Sarah, Grace, Lauren and Michele Rosenburg, IP.
