Geraldean R. Freeman, 76, of Ridgetop, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was born Geraldean Reinschmiedt in Clinton, Oklahoma on April 29, 1945 to the late Claude and Dora Mae Reinschmiedt.
Mrs. Geraldean met the love of her life in the summer of 1962. Mr. Willie walked into his grandfather’s rooming house in Clinton, OK while stationed at Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base and saw Geraldean for the first time. It wasn’t long before they bumped into each other at the local photo show and their life together began. Willie and Geraldean were married in December 1962, and she moved to Natchez, Mississippi to support her husband. They were blessed a few years later with their daughter, Cynthia, and three boys to follow, Stephen, Douglas and Kenneth. Geraldean supported all aspects of her husband and together they were founding members of Parkview Church of God and McNeely Road Church of God in Natchez and raised their family with the foundation of living a Christian life with family as support.
With family being the cornerstone of their lives, Geraldean never forgot where she came from; two weeks in the summer and at Christmas every year they would pack up and go back to Clinton, OK to see his family. She and Willie made a new home in 1987 here in Ridgetop at Ridgetop First Baptist Church. Her love for children led her to offer to babysit her grand and great-grandchildren whenever someone needed her. She had a generous heart and loved helping and caring for those around her. Ms Geraldean has been described as a loving wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freeman is predeceased by her older sister, Mary Barron.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Willie Freeman; children, Cynthia Hinson, Stephen Freeman, Douglas (Buffy) Freeman and Kenneth Freeman; sister, Claudia Bennett; grandchildren, Brandon (Nicole) Hinson, Rebecca Lam, Margaret (Joseph) Gingerich, Dewight (Paige) Thaxton, Tiffany (Josh) Garrett and Stacey Freeman and great grandchildren, Emliee Hinson, Jayse Lam, Ally Hinson, Austin Hinson, LeAnn Gingerich, Emmalyn Thaxton, Zayden Thaxton, Haley Freeman, Grayson Garrett, Waylon Garrett, Aubree Freeman, and Denver Thaxton.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 with Brother Ralph Carter as officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Memorial Garden with Stephen Freeman, Douglas Freeman, Kenneth Freeman, Brandon Hinson, Dewight Thaxton, Josh Garrett, Joseph Gingerich and Elliott Thaxton serving as pallbearers.
