Vietnam War veteran Dennis J. Waugh of Cumberland dies at 66

Dennis J. Waugh, 66, of Cumberland, died suddenly Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. He was the husband of Sharon L. (Andrews) Waugh and they had been married for 38 years. He is survived by his son Keith J. Waugh of Cumberland and his mother-in-law, Maureen Panaccione and her husband Joseph of Cumberland, his sister, LeeAnn Goodness of North Kingston; his brother-in-law, Michael J. Andrews of Cumberland; as well as a niece and several nephews. He was the brother of the late Eugene Waugh Jr.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Eugene L. Waugh Sr. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life, previously residing in Pawtucket.

Mr. Waugh entered the United States Navy after graduating from Central Falls High School. He served our country honorably and faithfully during the Vietnam War, stationed aboard the USS Enterprise.

Dennis dedicated his life to the care and concerns of his family, but often found time to enjoy a good scratch ticket. Those who love him will remember him as a loving, gentle soul who had a terrific sense of humor and had a knack for easily befriending those around him.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to the celebration of Dennis’ life to be held with visiting hours on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at JJ Duffy’s Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland .

A Christian burial mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the historic St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
